Smokey Robinson is a Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, producer, and record executive who played a central role in establishing Motown as a definitive R&B label. Robinson was the founder and frontman of the 1960s R&B group the Miracles, for whom he wrote and produced hits. He also wrote for other Motown stars like Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, and The Temptations. Robinson left the Miracles in 1972 to pursue a successful solo career in the 1970s and 1980s.
