The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Hennings-Fischer Foundation are pleased to accept applications for the upcoming 26th annual Young Artist Competition. The competition is open to all instrumentalists (except piano) age 30 or under as of February 28th, 2026. (Unfortunately, this year’s competition will not include the opera category. Please check back in 2027).
Preliminary rounds will take place on Friday, February 27th, 2026 with the finals on Saturday, February 28th, 2026 at the Salit Conservatory of Music in Burbank, CA. The preliminaries will take place in the Recital Hall from 6-10pm. The finals will be held as a public concert with an audience in the Recital Hall at 7:00pm on Saturday, February 28th, 2026. (Free admission)
There will be one or more Grand Prize winners and they will appear with the Burbank Philharmonic in an upcoming concert and receive a cash prize of $1,000 at the time of performance.
A full concerto from the standard repertoire is required (memorization preferred). You must bring your own accompanist to the preliminary and final rounds. If you would like to change repertoire before the competition, you do not have to contact us. Please bring one copy of a piano or solo score to the preliminary and final rounds. Past winners and finalists of the Burbank Philharmonic Hennings-Fischer competition have included Bass-Baritone Robert Feng, Cellist Eiline Tai, Sopranos Julie Adams and Angela Meade; Violinists Nigel Armstrong, Aubree Oliverson, Heidi & Alexis Hatch and cellist Keith Williams.
